 EY flu vaccination 2020

Every year, with autumn and winter just around the corner, you may expect to see an increase in the number of illnesses in your area.

Flu or influenza viruses are the most well-known viruses to cross our path each year. Contaminated drops of saliva are coughed, sneezed, or laughed into the air by those carrying the flu bug. Anyone who breathes them in, or comes into contact with affected items may become infected

The consequences are well-known: acute high temperature, headache and muscle pain, dry, tickly cough, sore throat, runny nose/blocked nose, tiredness, and reduced appetite. Rest is the best medicine. Those who are more vulnerable, the elderly and babies, may require additional medical check-ups as these population groups are more often prone to complications and could even die as a result.

VACCINATION IS THE BEST WAY TO PREVENT FLU

This flu vaccination is not a vaccine against COVID-19.

Please bear in mind that your preregistration for the EY flu vaccination is conditional as we are still waiting for final guidelines from the government. In the event of a deficit in the available vaccines, the Belgian government can decide to give priority to groups at risk, people older than 50 and pregnant women.

WHY VACCINATION ?

Every year we give you the opportunity to have a flu vaccination in the autumn.  This vaccine is the best available method for preventing seasonal flu. Those who are vaccinated against the flu make antibodies in their blood which then reduces the risk of contracting the seasonal flu significantly – up to 70% if you are in good health. You will also avoid infecting vulnerable persons in your circle of friends/family.

Due to COVID-19 we expect a high demand in flu vaccinations. Therefore, we want to provide you the opportunity to preregister for your seasonal flu vaccination in the autumn of 2020. This pre-registration is open to all EY colleagues, incl. (associate) partners, directors with their own management company and contractors.
